  • Joseph Svirbely working with Albert Szent-Györgyi von Nagyrapolt demonstrated that ascorbic acid (hexuronic acid) was vitamin C. This lead to a major trans-Atlantic priority of discovery war between with C. G. King Joseph Svirbely's former mentor who claimed to make this discovery in Science in April 1932 but history accepts the later Nature paper of the same year.
  • Frederick S. McKay discovered that fluoride caused mottled teeth.
  • First radiographic contrast visualisation of pulmonary circulation by Egas Moniz.
