Acquired neuromyotonia (Isaacs syndrome) is characterised by peripheral nerve hyperexcitability causing:
- Myokymia
- Muscle cramps and stiffness
- Delayed muscle relaxation after contraction
- Hyperhidrosis
A cause is autoantibodies against voltage-gated potassium channels (VGKC-Abs). Hence about 1/4 of cases are associated with other autoimmune disease such as myasthenia gravis.
