  • Aedes aegypti
    Aedes egypti (needed)
    • Distribution potentially worldwide, it is likely to recolonise cooler climes with climate change and lapsing of pesticide and other control measures that eliminated it from former habitates
    • Primary vector of dengue and yellow fever
    • Females active in daylight and readily enter buildings
    • Breeds in any reasonably calm water
  • Aedes albopictus which carries Chickungunya fever has internationalised its distribution worryingly.

In 1980 it was found in Indian Ocean around southern Eastern Africa and Madagascar, South East Asia in a belt from India through Burma to Philippines and Borneo and in Japan and Manchuria but now it is found throughout North Americia, Central Americia, much of South Americia, Southern Europe, Equatorial West Africa, China and Mongolia, Australia and New Guinea.
