Loss of hair. While often autoimmune, it can be secondary to many causes.
- Alopecia areata
- Round bald patches appearing suddenly, usually in the scalp
- Usually autoimmune
- Alopecia totalis
- Total loss of the hair on the scalp
- Alopecia Universalis
- Loss of all hair
- Alopecia barbae
- Loss of hair in the beard area (ie usually in males !)
- Androgenetic alopecia - Male pattern baldness
- Traction alopecia - due to repeated trauma
- Alopecia mucinosa a type associated with scaling underlying skin
Treatment
- Some work in some, many not worth it. If its secondary remove the cause.
