Arthur Guedel

Arthur E. Guedel, 1883 - 1956 American, pioneer of anaesthesia. He made the first classification of the stages and planes of ether anaesthesia while working in France with the American expeditionary force in World War One.

He devised many devices for anaesthesia including the widely used guedel airway with the use of which no clinical medical student should be unacquainted.
