B lymphocytes (B cells, B-cells):
- Manufacture antibody (so part of the humoral immune response of the adaptive immune system)
- Recognise antigen in its native form
- Antigen presenting cell (MHC Class II presentation)
B cells develop into either Plasma cells or Memory B cells. Plasma cells are the main producers of antibody, whereas memory cells persist for years, ready to convert into plasma cells on future exposure.
