Β-catenin (Catenin beta-1) is a protein involved in cell adhesion and transcription through beta-catenin signalling in the Wnt pathway. It appears to function both as an activator and structural protein in say the adherens junctions of epithelium. It is coded by the CTNNB1 gene at 3p22-p21.3.
