CLO test

The CLOtest® is a proprietary kit produced by Kimberly Clark for detecting the presence of Helicobacter pylori. A piece of gastric mucosa is placed in a small well. The presence of urease is a surrogate measure of the presence of the organism and results in a colour change from yellow to magenta.

There are less invasive methods of testing such as the urease breath test, H. pylori serology (only detects previous infection) and stool antigen testing.
