A method of dissecting renal specimens with renal cell carcinoma to maximise detection of vascular invasion in renal sinus fat. The method aims to block as much of the interface between the tumour and renal sinus.

The original paper describes an increase in cases with vascular invasion of 58%, compared to 39% in historical cases.[1] Similar results were seen in a different centre using the same protocol.[2]
