A channelopathy is a disease caused by disturbed function of ion channel subunits or the proteins that regulate them. The resulting pathology can vary from epilepsy and cardiac arrhythmias to hypoglycaemia and hyperpyrexia with exposure to a triggering substance. Cystic fibrosis is a channelopathy.
