This is the interface of medicine and the legal justice system.

A forensic pathologist, for example, examines the human body in order to determine the cause and time of death, particularly when it is suspicious. A forensic physician (AKA police surgeon) is responsible on the one hand for supervising the medical care of people detained in police custody, but also for gathering evidence by examining, and obtaining intimate samples from, suspects and /or complainants
