ΕΤΥΜΟΛΟΓΙΑ

Latin catena chain

A class of proteins important in cell adhesion, cytoplasmic signalling and nuclear translocation due to the protein complexes they interact with. All but the alpha-catenins which inhibit Wnt signaling contain armadillo repeats and are also known as armadillo proteins. Alpha-catenin and beta-catenin bind each other.
