Introduction

Usually "Chlamydia" refers to the sexually transmitted infection.

Aetiology

Chlamydia are obligate intracellular parasites. They fall between viruses - arguably "life" - and bacteria - definitely life - in complexity. Their life cycle in the host's cells is complex and this affects treatment and the advice given to patients with urogenital chlamydia infection to affect a cure.
