A combination of paracetamol and dextropropoxyphene with fair rapid toxicity in overdose due to respiratory depression.

  • Use discouraged due to toxicity in overdose (ie license withdrawn in UK)
  • Objective evidence in terms of decreased successful suicide rate due to removal of co-proxamol from general market in 2005 found about 350 fewer deaths in England and Wales[1] and a similar effect in Scotland[2] as was predicted to happen.[3][4][5]. The maximum possible gain was 5% of total suicides ie 800 avoided deaths in UK.
