The cysteinyl leukotriene receptor 1(Type 1 cysteinyl leukotriene receptor,CysLT1) coded for at Xq13-q21 is a rhodopsin class outer cell membrane receptor protein stimulated by the cysteinyl leukotrienes in this order of affinity:

  1. Leukotriene D4 (LTD4)
  2. Leukotriene C4 (LTC4)
  3. Leukotriene E4 (LTE4)

causing:

  • Sustained bronchoconstriction
  • Mucus secretion
  • Oedema in airways

Expression can be mediated by type 2 helper T-cell cytokines which may explain asthma aggravated by aspirin sensitivity

Specific antagonists have been developed.
