The DALY (disability-adjusted life-year) for a health care intervention can be used in cost-effectiveness analysis. International data is now widely available. [1]In England and Wales the QALY is preferred based on quality of life measures to compare across diseases, but for some diseases, disability might a markedly different individual and societal impact than quality of life measures as for example determined by the EQ-5D measures often used in the UK.
