According to Wikipedia,[1] there are seven families of double-stranded RNA (ds RNA) viruses:
- Reoviridae
- Birnaviridae
- Totiviridae
- Partitiviridae
- Hypoviridae
- Cystoviridae.
(The Tree of Life Web Project classifies the families differently.[2])
Of these six families, the Reoviridae is the largest and most diverse in terms of host range, which includes the human pathogen rotavirus.
