Drug regulation
From Ganfyd
Drug regulation is a complex matter, and those interested are welcome to look at the following article and web sites
- The EMEA -Drug regulation at a supernational level.
- ANZTPA Australia New Zealand Therapeutic Products Authority which came to a dead halt on 16 July 2007 when the complementary & herbal medicine and indigenous health care lobbies felt too threatened
Context
Most jurisdictions regulate psychoactive drugs and may schedule some as illegal. Other drugs may only be available on prescription from regulated healthcare providers or practitioners. This is regulated through the standards of practice and through medicines and medical devices regulation. Medicines regulation usually involves a process of marketing authorisation and advertising regulation.
