  • 60mg daily Major depression

Clinical Issues

  • Sudden withdrawal can precipitate a withdrawal reaction- taper over at least 2 weeks

  • Nausea
  • Dry mouth
  • Fatigue
  • Insomnia
  • Constipation
  • Otherwise similar to SSRIs

Special advice

Duloxetine has a pain modulating effect similar to amitriptyline and some evidence of effect in chronic pain. This is presumed due to the noradrenergic effect it has which is absent in SSRIs.
