Difficulty swallowing. Not to be confused with Dysphasia. Pain on swallowing is odynophagia.

When taking a history it is useful to know:

  • Time scale: Sudden/progressive; days/months?
  • Solids/liquids or both?
  • Presence/absence of neurological problems
  • Weight loss
  • Systemic features
