A term that is close to meaningless as it probably, by analogy, in a biological context means any gene whose expression has been modified by an epigenetic mechanism of non-DNA sequence-related heredity of which there are several. Indeed almost all genes as expressed by phenotype are likely to be epigenes.

The term epigene conversion relates to a form of epigenetic modification, that is consistent with results of experiments in plants but may not apply to man.
