Activated Factor VII (FVIIa) is cofactor for tissue factor and so essential for extrinsic pathway. Studies on recombinant Factor VII reveals that as well as its efficacy in treating bleeding associated with haemophilia it has prothombotic properties, particularly in the elderly.
