Haemolytic anaemia induced by compounds in fava beans (broad beans) with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency. The term is also used to describe the clinical syndrome induced by other compounds in glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency. Classically also has symptoms of:

  • Jaundice
  • Abdominal pain
  • Splenomegaly
  • Cholelithiasis
