Fluorescein

Fluorescent dye. Often as fluorescein isothiocynate (FITC). Glows green under UV light.

Applications

• Eye examination  :
  • Topically. Illuminate it with white light through a cobalt-blue filter to display corneal ulcers.
  • Fluorescein angiography
• Biomolecular techniques, e.g. flow cytometry, immunofluorescence and FISH
