Indications
- Acute coronary syndrome in those not undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention[1][2]
- Venous thromboembolism in elective orthopedic patients
- Adults with acute symptomatic spontaneous superficial-vein thrombosis of the lower limbs without concomitant deep-vein thrombosis[3]
Administration
- S/C 2.5 mg once daily in ACS

Special advice
The use of fondaparinux in treating superficial vein thrombosis (superficial phlebitis) to prevent more serious VTE does not make economic sense in any health economy at 2010 prices[4].
