Gastric antral vascular ectasia

Gastric antral vascular ectasia (GAVE, Watermelon stomach) is a particular apparance of the gastric mucosa (at endoscopy) where dilated small blood vessels in the antrum are visible. The cause is unknown. Associations include:

Complications

  • Gastrointestinal bleed
  • Outlet obstruction

Treatment

  • Treat predisposing conditions
  • Photocoagulation[3]
