Growth hormone receptor
A dimer membrane receptor protein which can also be cleaved off as growth hormone-binding protein which prolongs growth hormone half-life and helps with cellular transport of growth hormone. It is a binding site for Janus kinase 2(JAK2) tyrosine kinase. This and the receptor protein are then phosphorylated, allowing binding of STAT proteins. These are phosphorylated in turn and on translocation to the nucleus initiate transcription of target proteins. Suppression of these intracellular steps is most importantly mediated by SOCS proteins.
