- Newborn (due to circulating maternal oestrogen)
- Androgen deficiency
- Increased oestrogens
If it is neither large nor painful and no removable cause is apparent it can be ignored. If it is more obtrusive then surgical intervention can be considered. Mastectomy, which in recent times may be assisted by liposuction, should resolve the problem, but is not a small operation.
