Henri Hartmann
From Ganfyd
Henri Albert Hartmann (1860-1952). French surgeon.[1] Not to be confused with Alexis Hartmann, who was a paediatrician responsible for Hartmann's solution.
He described Hartmann's procedure, an operation consisting of a sigmoid colectomy and formation of a colostomy. His name is also associated with Hartmann's pouch. Confusingly, Hartmann's pouch sometimes refers to the oversewn rectal remnant following a Hartmann's procedure, but can also refer to the apparent pouch at the neck of the gallbladder (regarded as a abnormal finding consequent to gallstone disease).[2][3]
