Wikipedia on Hepatic triacylglycerol lipase (Less technical, ? quality control)
Hepatic triacylglycerol lipase is a 499 amino acid enzyme coded by the LIPC (HTGL) gene at 15q21.3 . Variations are associated with hepatic lipase deficiency (causes pathologic levels of circulating lipoproteins) and non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus susceptibility. It is important in the breakdown of HDL and catalyzes the hydrolysis of phospholipids, mono-, di-, and triglycerides, and acyl-CoA thioesters. It is secreted from hepatocytes and binds hepatic endothelial surfaces via heparin sulfate proteoglycans.
