The Home Office is responsible for many things that impact on healthcare.
For example, the Home Office:
- Runs law-enforcement in the UK; and the use of drugs outside a medical context (drug misuse etc) falls under the home office.
- Sets the rules on who is eligible to live in the UK, and what they are eligible for. They set the "ordinary residence" rules that govern Eligibility for NHS secondary care, for example.
