Insulin pump therapy or continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) has been invented several times in various places and in 2008 was becoming popular in England again. Short-acting Insulin is delivered through a fine cannula from an electronically contrrolled pump at a basal rate, supplemented by patient-controlled boosts at meal times.
