Administration of drugs into the subarachnoid space. Spinal anaesthesia is accomplished by inject of small amounts of local anaesthetic agent (sometimes with opioids as well, although some feel that the risk outweight the benefits).
It is also a route for chemotherapy, but care must be taken to ensure that the right agent is administered to the right patient at the right time.
