Dr. John Snow

John Snow (1813-1858).

An anaesthetist, in a less specialised age.

Remembered for his contribution to public health and sanitation through his careful and insightful study into cholera outbreaks in London and direct action in 1854. He is commemorated in an eponymous pub near Broad Street, where he removed the handle from the water pump.
