Krukenberg tumour

Described by Friedrich Krukenberg. The original paper erroneously described the tumours as fibrosarcomas containing mucinous cells and also believed that these represented primary ovarian tumours.[1] The metastatic nature of the disease was described by Schlagenhaufer 6 years later.[2]

Ovarian carcinoma that contains a significant component of mucin-secreting signet-ring adenocarcinoma in a context of ovarian stromal cells. It is virtually always due to Metastatic in the ovaries from a primary gastric carcinoma, but can result from other primary GI cancers.
