ΕΤΥΜΟΛΟΓΙΑ

Latin. Lamina = layer, propria = proper, i.e. the 'proper' layer of the mucosa.

Strictly speaking, lamina propria mucosae. Layer of connective tissue just below the epithelium. The mucosa is composed of the epithelium and the lamina propria.
