Described by Kenneth MattoxSurgical procedure used in trauma to mobilise the left-sided abdominal organs to bring them into the midline for surgical control of retroperitoneal haematoma. Dissection of the white line of Toldt is started from the left-side of the colon all the way up to the right upper quadrant. The procedures frees up the left side of colon, left kidney, pancreas and spleen.
