Meningism

From Ganfyd

Irritaion of the meninges. Causes a syndrome of:

• Headache
• Neck stiffness
• Pain on stretching the sciatic nerve
• Dislike of bright lights (photophobia)
• Irritability

Kernig's sign and Brudzinski's sign may be elicited.

Causes

• Meningitis
• Subarachnoid haemorrhage
• Raised intracranial pressure
