Naltrexone is an opioid antagonist. It is also being developed for various indications, including obesity, when combined with bupropion (as in contrave®).

Indications

  • Reversal of opioid overdose or toxicity.
  • Adjunct to prevent relapse in former opioid dependent patients (opioid free for at least a week) - EU

  • Acute hepatitis

  • Will reverse analgesic effect
  • Nausea & vomiting
  • Abdominal pain
  • Anxiety
  • Aches & pains
  • Occasional wider range of minor symptoms
  • Rarely ITP, rash, LFT abnormalities
