Oral 2.5mg as soon as possible after acute attack migraine. Possible further dose four hours minimium but only if headache releaved initially and comes back. Maximium 5mg in 24 hours.

Clinical Issues

Special advice

  • Little experience in elderly (over 65 years)
  • Should be used as monotherapy in acute migraine
  • Effectively using more than one of class in 24 hours is not a very good idea

Class Contra-indications

Class Side-effects

  • Tingling
  • Pressure or tightness throat or chest
  • Flushing
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Tiredness
  • Vomiting
  • Effectively several others such as dry mouth, rarely any organ ischaemia but see manufacturers literature
