Obesity surgery mortality risk score (OS-MRS). Score designed to predict risk of mortality from bariatric surgery.[1]

One point scored for each of 5 preoperative factors:

  1. Body mass index > 50 kg/m2
  2. Male sex
  3. Hypertension
  4. Risk for pulmonary embolism
  5. Age >45 years.

Based on score,

0 to 1 
Class A - Lowest risk (mortality 0.31%)
2 to 3 
Class B - Intermediate risk (mortality 1.90%)
4 to 5 
Class C - High risk (mortality 7.56%)
