- Smooth abduction to almost 90º
Developmental dysplasia of the hip
- Movement usually impeded
- If pressure applied to greater trochanter, then soft 'clunk' as dislocation reduces and hip abducts fully
- 'Jerk of entry'
- If irreducible, then abduction may stop halfway with no jerk of entry
