  • Smooth abduction to almost 90º

Developmental dysplasia of the hip

  • Movement usually impeded
  • If pressure applied to greater trochanter, then soft 'clunk' as dislocation reduces and hip abducts fully
    • 'Jerk of entry'
  • If irreducible, then abduction may stop halfway with no jerk of entry
