Posterior vitreous detachment

In middle age, the vitreous humour commonly becomes detached from the retina. This is of little account, but distinguishing it from a retinal detachment may pose a problem.

The process tends to generate floaters and if it pulls on a blood vessel it may produce a small bleed.
