A skin disorder of unknown aetiology, characterized by ulcerated nodules or pustules with a blue-black undermined edge and purulent surface. Often associated with pyrexia and general malaise. It can easily be misdiagnosed as a chronic "leg ulcer" or cellulitis. Dermatology opinion and biopsy is necessary to make the diagnosis.

Management is of the underlying cause; also topical and/or oral steroids If resistant, oral dapsone or minocycline, occasionally ciclosporin.
