Rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1) contains the proteins:
- Serine/threonine-protein kinase mTOR coded by the FRAP1 gene
- Target of rapamycin complex subunit LST8 coded by the MLST8 gene
- Regulatory-associated protein of mTOR coded by the RPTOR gene
- Proline-rich AKT1 substrate 1 coded by the AKT1S1 gene.
Sirolimus binds to mTOR protein kinase hence the name as rapamycin was the first name given to sirolimus.
