Retroperitoneal fibrosis

As the name suggets, retroperitoneal fibrosis is a phenomenon associated with inflammatory fibrosis of the retroperitoneal structures, commonly the upper urinary tract and blood vessels. See Lancet review [1].

In most cases no cause is identified. The pathogenesis of this idiopathic form is poorly understood. Other causes include drug-induced, infections, cancer, trauma and radiotherapy.
