Sexual practices that reduce or minimise the probability of harm, particularly sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancy.

Safer sexual practices include:

  • Abstinence
  • Be faithful: minimise the number of sexual partners
  • Condoms: use condoms or other barrier methods of contraception
  • Avoidance of practices with higher risks of infection
