Selman Abraham Waksman

Selman Abraham Waksman (July 22nd, 1888 to August 16, 1973), a microbiologist, received the Nobel prize in medicine in 1952 for his discovery of the first practicable chemotherapy (streptomycin) for tuberculosis. Amongst the many other antibiotics he discovered is neomycin.
