TBEV
From Ganfyd
Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) causes tick-borne encephalitis. There are 3 subtypes:
- TBEV-Eu (European - Vector Ixodes ricinus)
- TBEV-Sib (Siberian - Vector Ixodes persulcatus)
- TBEV-FE (Far-Eastern - Vector Ixodes persulcatus)
It has an RNA genome which codes for a polyprotein which is cleaved to:
- Structural proteins:
- C - capsid protein
- prM - precursor M that acts as a chaperon for the E protein (forms an immunogenic non infective icoshedral particle)
- E - envelope protein
- Non-structural proteins:
- NS1 - immunogenic as a hexameric complex
- NS2A
- NS2B
- NS3
- NS4A
- NS4B
- NS5
