Talk:Tetanus

Guidelines seem to vary: Previously every 10 years. At some point in the last few years, the UK seemed to have switched to accepting that a total of 5 injections is enough for life-long protection. Actually, I'm not entirely clear about the figure of 5. Does this mean the primary course (usually 3 injections, right?) and 2 boosters? Anyone know? Mark ong 01:12, 27 March 2006 (CEST)

There is a separate point in the first DNUK thread about the fact that most A&Es stock DPT, so its a triple vaccinatino each time.Mark ong

The Green book shows signs of having been written by ctee at that point I think. We get pressure not to routinely boost at 10y intervals if people have had 5 (as adult I think) booster doses. But the green book suggests that anyone having a tet prone wound should have a booster if they had not had one within 10y, as before. And then reflect that 50% of people who got Tetanus had no recoverable history of a "tet-prone wound". I'm less than convinced that it is soundly thought out. Midgley 02:11, 27 March 2006 (CEST)

DNUK thread for use as a case study as some point? Mark ong 13:26, 29 December 2006 (GMT)
